Six approaches to drawing sound from crystal quartz. Each technique creates a different texture and can be combined freely during sessions.
1. The Basic Strike
Hold your baguette en caoutchouc loosely - like holding a paintbrush, not a hammer. Strike the tube about one-third from the top. Let your wrist do the work. The sound should bloom naturally without force.
Many players grip too tightly at first. A relaxed grip actually produces a fuller, rounder tone. If the sound feels thin or sharp, soften your hold.
2. The Glide (Continuous Tone)

Start slowly. Too fast and the tone breaks up. Too much pressure and you'll mute it. The sweet spot feels almost like hovering - barely touching the surface while maintaining constant, gentle contact.
